SMARTKIDS 2013 Builds A Village To Raise Children!

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 APRIL 2013 – Malaysia’s Largest Educational Kids Fair, SmartKids, returns with its 11th installment promising to provide a fun-filled educational experience for children, parents, family members and teachers. Themed “Where We Nurture the Future”, SmartKids developed SmartVille – building a village with the idea that “it takes a village to raise a child”.

To be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur from 19-21 April 2013, SmartKids has developed five different sectors for this year’s event – Smart Education, Smart Health, Smart Business, Smart Family and Smart Safety. The sectors, consisting of 180 exhibitors with 300 booths, will showcase the smart way of education for future leaders of the country. Gerald Lum, General Manager of Sphere Exhibits Malaysia said, “SmartKids is the platform for children to learn and think smart.

The development of children is critical as this will decide their future. Influences from parents and other parties such as teachers, relatives and friends, all play a crucial role in the development of a well-rounded and holistic smart kid, which is why we have developed the concept of SmartVille. This event will give parents the opportunity to explore and discover their children’s inner talents and bond family relationships through various exhibits and programmes. We encourage participation from everyone who is interested in securing their children’s future”.

Some of the activities would include the 13th Smart Kids Talent Quest, Smart Kids MELTA Way with Words, Smart Kids Education Enrollment Pool, Smart Kids ‘I Care, I Share’ Programme and Smart Educational Tour. The main highlight for this year is the Smart Kids Mascot Parade, where children could interact with their all-time favourite cartoon characters such as Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Ollie the Dragon from LEGOLAND® Malaysia.

There will also be a SmartVille Draw at the event, with total prizes worth RM15,000 for visitors. Other activities on Facebook will give the public a chance to win an iPad Mini and other interesting prizes. In 2011, the event welcomed over 100,000 visitors with 70 participating schools and according to the Malaysia Book of Records, it created a record for the Largest Kid’s Educational Fair.

SmartKids 2013 is a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism and the Road Safety Department and Sphere Exhibits Malaysia. The event is also supported by the Malaysian English Language Teaching Association, LEGOLAND® Malaysia, Nickelodeon, the Department of Museum Malaysia and DJ Event.
