Bandar Maharani To Be Promoted As Tourist Destination

MUAR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Johor's former royal town, Bandar Maharani, will soon be promoted as a tourist destination due to its historical sites and attractions. Muar Municipal Council (MPM) president Mohd Fuad Redzwan told Bernama among the sites to be highlighted would be the Kubu Bentayan, the last fortress of the Melaka Sultanate soldiers before they retreated to Kota Kuala Pagoh during the onslaught of Portuguese in the 14th century. He said that apart from Kubu Bentayan, the 7km fortress at Kota Buruk on the riverbank of Sungai Muar could also be promoted as a tourist attraction.
