KUALA LUMPUR, 17 March 2026 - Tourism Malaysia and Dewan Filharmonik
PETRONAS (DFP) today embark on a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) signed by Ms. Siti Azlina binti Abd Latiff, Chief Executive
Officer of DFP, and Mr. Mohd Amirul Rizal bin Abdul Rahim, Director General of
Tourism Malaysia at EQ Kuala Lumpur. This collaboration is aimed at
strengthening the arts and cultural landscape in the capital, while elevating
Malaysia’s position as a premier tourism destination in support of the Visit
Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign aspirations.
According to Ms. Siti Azlina, this partnership marks another
significant milestone for DFP as the premier concert hall in Kuala Lumpur City
Centre (KLCC) and the home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), which
is widely regarded as a leading orchestra in Southeast Asia. She noted that DFP
takes great pride in this collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, as such
partnerships generate a far greater impact than individual efforts. This
synergy allows both parties to complement one another in achieving higher
standards and fulfilling the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Furthermore, this initiative aligns with the goals of the VM2026
campaign to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a world-class destination for
arts and culture. Through this strategic collaboration, Tourism Malaysia and
DFP will jointly promote high-quality performing arts experiences to both
domestic and international visitors. This initiative simultaneously supports
efforts to diversify the nation's tourism products and empowers Kuala Lumpur as
a regional hub for arts and culture.
For the past 28 years, DFP and the MPO have been at the forefront of
the creative industry, representing the highest level of performing arts and
cultural presentations. Throughout the concert seasons, both entities deliver a
consistent and artistically excellent programme all year round, providing a
platform for arts and culture appreciation through a dazzling line-up of local
and international artists. Each season showcases a variety of musical
offerings, with genres ranging from classical, pop, and jazz to movie
soundtracks, anime, and traditional ethnic music.
As a strategic partner, the DFP brand will be expanded globally
through integration across Tourism Malaysia’s digital and physical platforms,
including overseas information centres. This collaboration will also see the
creation of attractive packages for both Malaysians and international visitors,
featuring discounted concert tickets and guided tours of the concert hall.
This collaboration also presents an opportunity for DFP to explore
the creation of cultural content specifically curated for the VM2026 campaign.
Such a move will strengthen the synergy between both organisations in upholding
the national mandate to foster an appreciation for the arts while enriching the
cultural identity of the local community.
