Art of Speed Malaysia returns to MAEPS in July 2022

 

A two year absence due to the Covid19 pandemic has not dimmed the Art of Speed spirit.

Malaysia's premier Kustom & Counter Culture event is celebrating its 10th anniversary with more cool bikes, radical rides as well as art and culture.

As usual, the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS) will host Art of Speed 2022 (AOS) on the 2nd and 3rd of July from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Foreign guests from the international custom community and media are present. Among the many are Emi Suganuma, "Sunny" Yano & Michi "NATQQ" from MOONEYES, and Dino Dalle Carbonare from Speedhunters.com all of which are from Japan.

From America theres Scott Johnson from Mama Tried Motorcycle Show, Warren Heir Jr. from Flat Out Friday, and Yaniv Evans from Powerplant Motorcycles. Australia's Chopper and Kustom artist Russell Murchie "MOW" will also be around.

The main highlights for AOS 2022 are the annual Art of Speed Invitational Bike Build Off 2022, which will feature seven Malaysian custom builders vying for the RM10,000 cash prize (jury selection) and RM5,000 cash prize (public choice).

Competing builders are varied and include Skatecture and Chaos Kustom from Sarawak, Acid Welding and Zuhal Fast Custom from Johor, Jewa Lukha and Motorburuk Garage from Penang, and RGF from Perlis.

One of the most popular showcases will be The Hot Wheels Legends Tour. Launched on June 18 at Publika, this years' winner selected from the Asia Pacific region will have their actual car transformed into a one-of-a-kind Hot Wheels die-cast model.

Registrations for the Hot Wheels Legends Tour is now available online as well as on-ground at AOS 2022.

Also at AOS2022 will be a life-sized Hot Wheels blister pack backdrop for visitors to take a picture of with their own car.

There will also be a gift with purchase (GWP) of a limited edition die-cast Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) US mail-in car as well as 200 autographed Hot Wheels posters.

Many other events will be happening at AOS2022, including the returning NEAT Fest in Hall C, which will feature a collective display of hand selected rides from across Malaysia, Hail Vintage in Hall C featuring vintage work wear exhibition and the Jubilee Antique Café. In Hall D will be the Off The Grid outdoor camping and lifestyle showcase.

Hall A will feature Qhalis Najmi from NoEqual.co as host for our annual Kustom & Koffee Talk together with overseas panelists Scott Johnson from Mama Tried Motorcycle Show and Warren Heir Jr. from Flat Out Friday. The forum will discuss the latest trends in bike and car industries.

In addition, there will be the Roda Rumble 2022 Two Wheels Gathering & Outdoor Festival supported by Retro Mania, La Cultura – Malaysia's first Chicano Culture Appreciation Gathering, Food Park food vendors and trucks, a Vintage Flea Market, the Alfa Romeo Club Malaysia Gathering, a Hot Wheels Club Malaysia (HWCM) Convention (Hall D), Streetware Con streetwear fashion, Mini Crawlers RC demo and display, product launches by various manufacturers and a test ride zone for Ducati, Royal Enfield, Vespa, Aprilia and Harley-Davidson.

Also a perennial favourite is the highly popular Sound Circus Festival which will feature Hujan as the main headline together with bands such as Sekumpulan Orang Gila, SweetAss, Iqbal M., Balok People and many more.

The final Sunday will be a lucky draw giveaway two lucky winners. One will go home with an Classic Vespa fully restored by Kluk Klek Soul and is a unique EV conversion by Elders Elettrico and the other lucky draw winner (who will have to be a Hausboom consumer at the show) will win a Hausboom customized EV Classic Vespa.

The event will reintroduce the Speed Lane ticket, which opens one hour earlier at 9:30am thats priced at RM55 and valid for both days. Visitors can enjoy one extra hour inside the main hall, Hall C and D.

The normal weekend pass is available at the door and online for RM35 with children below 12 years old entering for free. Disabled (OKU) pass holders will also enjoy free entry.

"Since its inception, Art of Speed Malaysia has successfully established itself as a gathering not only for motorcycle and car enthusiasts, but also art-practitioners, musicians, collectors and the likes, while culminating in a large-scale annual event," said Art of Speed Malaysia (AOSM) festival director Asep Ahmad Iskandar.

"AOSM will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and will be igniting the spirit and enthusiasm of loyal visitors with the highly-anticipated Sound Circus Festival event."

Sound Circus Festival outdoor only tickets are sold out, but the Sound Circus Festival with Weekend Pass combo is still available online only. Online tickets are available at aos2022.qtic.my

Art of Speed Malaysia is supported by Tourism Malaysia under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through its Tourism Recovery Plan 2022, launched recently by Datuk Sri Hajjah Nancy Shukri with the tagline 'Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2022' in an effort to boost domestic tourism.
