KINABALU: Sabah will be holding its first-ever Digital Tourism Workshop this
month to provide bigger opportunities for industry players to use modern
technology.
The event from Jan 23 to 24 is
organised by Sabah Tourism Board (STB) with E-Tourism Frontiers founder and
chief executive officer Damien Cook as the key speaker.
“Cook has made presentations in
international forums, including the World Information Summit in Tunis, the
Global Experts Panel on E-Tourism, ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse) in
Berlin as well as Pacific Asia Travel Association Tourism forums.
“E-Tourism Frontiers has worked
with South African Tourism, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, Athens and Rhodes
Tourism (Greece) to name a few, and has partnered with TripAdvisor, Facebook,
YouTube, Expedia and Google,” said STB in a statement.
State Tourism, Culture and
Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the tourism industry here
must fully embrace the information and communications technology to reach out
to consumers today.
“The industry players can benefit
from relevant training programmes to progress in digital marketing and build a
strong branding for Sabah.
“This is why Sabah Tourism is
organising this first-ever Digital Tourism Workshop which is open to industry
players and business owners,” he added.
