The DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team completed the opening day of the season finale at Valencia with both riders claiming a solid top ten position.
At a track where times are always close, riders Jakub Kornfeil and Zulfahmi Khairuddin wasted no time in getting straight to work and on the pace. Looking in good form throughout, Jakub and Fahmi concluded free practice one less than half a second off the top of the timesheets.
Determined Malay rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin was an early pace setter, consistently dicing with the leaders and momentarily placing his #63 machine at the top of the timesheets. Showing strong form despite some temporary issues with engine braking in FP2, Fahmi finished the day in an encouraging seventh place, feeling comfortable and confident ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.
Also persistently pushing within the top ten, teammate Jakub Kornfeil continued to improve his feeling around the Valencian Circuit. Consistently lapping alone, the Czech rider provisionally held onto an impressive second position with fifteen minutes of FP2 remaining, before concluding the day in ninth, just 0.351s off first place man Efren Vazquez.

“Free practice one was good and I was quite fast straight away. In FP2 I had a small issue with the engine braking and I couldn’t stop the bike so well going into the corners, but still I was able to make a fast time with the soft tyre in the rear. The bike set-up is good, we just have to make a couple of small adjustments and then tomorrow we have to improve the lap time more to get a good position on the grid. Overall I’m pleased with our progress today and I’m feeling confident ahead of qualifying.”

“Today was very good. I didn’t expect to be so high because usually I struggle at this track, so I’m very happy that this year, together with the team, I have made progress. We have a good setting and our bike is working well; I was also able to improve my line on track today, which was good. We still have to learn a little bit more, study and make a plan for tomorrow to ensure we continue to be strong, but I feel positive. We have quite a lot of tyres saved to choose from, which is great for us. Our setting is good we just need to improve the front of the bike slightly and understand a little bit more which tyre is better here. I’m very happy because again we have the speed, which we’ve had for the last three races and today we have continued to show a good performance. Until the middle of the afternoon practice both Fahmi and I were in the top five, which is great for the team. We have positive thinking for tomorrow, so let’s see what happens.”
