Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas entered the final round tied with Brendan Steele at the top of the leaderboard and walked away with a one-shot win over Adam Scott at the CIMB Classic after a 6-under 66 on Sunday. Thomas becomes the youngest champion of the CIMB Classic at the age of 22 years, 6 months, 3 days.
After a double bogey at the par-4, 14th Thomas went birdie-birdie-birdie-par to close out the tournament.
The CIMB Classic is the fourth consecutive TOUR event won by a player under the age of 24 dating back to last season.

Thomas is the seventh-consecutive winner on TOUR in his 20s, dating back to 27-year-old Jason Day’s triumph at The Barclays.
Thomas etched his name in the CIMB Classic history book with a new tournament record, in relation to par, of 26-under. (Bo Van Pelt, 23-under, 2011).
Thomas becomes the fourth player (five wins) to win this event after holding at least a share of the 54-hole lead, joining Ben Crane (2010), Bo Van Pelt (2011) and Ryan Moore (2013, 2014).
Thomas becomes the first player to make the CIMB Classic his maiden PGA TOUR victory.
Thomas’ tournament in detail: 34 of 56 fairways, 55 of 72 greens in regulation, 6 of 10 sand saves and 104 putts.
Thomas extends exempt status through the 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season.
Thomas is awarded 500 FedExCup points for his victory and moves to the top of the standings.
Thomas’ triumph at the CIMB Classic is expected to place him No. 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
The win comes in Thomas’ 39th professional start on TOUR.
Thomas was paired with Brendan Steele (68) and Kevin Na (67) in the final round.
In the second round, Thomas’ bogey-free 61 set a new course record at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club and matched the tournament record. The former University of Alabama All-American also set the 36-hole tournament record in relation to par with his 15-under-par score (2012-Robert Garrigus /14-under).
Thomas got his sophomore campaign off to a strong start with a T3 at the Frys.com Open, a career-best showing on TOUR. The former Nicklaus award winner closed with a 69 and narrowly missed a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole to finish one shot out of a playoff with Emiliano Grillo and Kevin Na.
In 2014, Thomas earned his first professional victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship outside of Columbus, Ohio during the Web.com Tour Finals. Thomas headed into the weekend four back of the leaders, carded 72-70 and defeated Richard Sterne in a playoff for the title.

Scott’s 9-under-par round on Sunday was the second lowest final-round score in his career on TOUR [2013 The Honda Classic – 62 (-10)].
Scott has been using a conventional-length putter with a claw grip in anticipation of the anchoring ban that goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2016. He recorded 112 putts for the week at KLGCC.
Brendan Steele
Brendan Steele, who shared the 54-hole lead with Thomas, carded a 4-under 68 and finished two back for a T3, his best performance on TOUR since a T2 at the 2015 CareerBuilder Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation.
Kevin NaKevin Na was deadlocked with Scott and Thomas heading into the final nine. After a birdie on the par-4 10 th, Na could only manage eight straight pars to finish his round at 24-under, two back of Thomas.. Na, who is making his fourth start at the CIMB Classic, has recorded top 10s in his last three starts in the event.
Na is coming off of two runner-up finishes in the first two events of the PGA TOUR 2015-16 season, including a playoff-loss at the Frys.com Open.
Miscellaneous stats
In addition to 500 FedExCup points and a two-year PGA TOUR exemption, the CIMB Classic champion receives invitations to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, a winners-only event in January, along with two major championships (Masters Tournament and PGA Championship) and THE PLAYERS. The player would also earn exemptions into six additional invitational events and a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR.
Anirban Lahiri, who won at KLGCC earlier this year on the European Tour in a co-sanctioned event with the Asian Tourt, carded a final-round 70 and finished at 14-under-par in a tie for 21st place.
Two-time defending CIMB Classic winner Ryan Moore posted 67-69-66-69—271, 17-under for the tournament and finished T10. Moore has the most top-10s of any player at the event.
