Issuance of Commemorative Coins in Conjunction with The 50th Anniversary of Muzium Negara


In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Muzium Negara, Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing commemorative coins. Muzium Negara (the National Museum) was officially opened on 31 August 1963 by the third Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Putra Al-Haj ibni Al-Marhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail.
Specifications of the commemorative coins are as follows:
  1. Gold Commemorative Coin (proof)This proof coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weighs 7.96 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM 1,800 a piece. The mintage quantity is 500 pieces.
     
  2. Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)This proof coin is made of Sterling Silver with 92.5 purity and weighs 21.00 grams. It has a face value of RM 10 and will be sold at RM150 a piece. The mintage quantity is 1,000 pieces.
     
  3. Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U) Commemorative CoinThe Nordic Gold (B.U) coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 25,000 pieces.
These commemorative coins are also available in a set of three (3) and a set of two (2). The set of three (3) consists of the gold, silver and Nordic gold proof coins. It will be sold at RM2,000 per set with 500 sets available. The set of two (2) consists the silver and Nordic gold proof coins. This set will be sold at RM200 per set with 750 sets available.
Coin Design
The design descriptive of the commemorative coins is as follows:
  1. ObverseThe front façade of Muzium Negara (the National Museum) is in the centre of the coin. The words “JUBLI EMAS MUZIUM NEGARA” and years 1963 – 2013 denoting the 50 year anniversary of Muzium Negara are inscribed on the upper circumference of the coin.
     
  2. ReverseThe mural from Muzium Negara is in the centre of the coin. The words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin is featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference.
Sales Outlets
These commemorative coins are minted and distributed by Bank Negara Malaysia and will be available for sale from 2 September 2013 at Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (MAG) and regional offices and branches located in Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
