Great value for money and excellent service earned Bayview Beach Resort Penang a place in the ‘Top 15 Bargain Hotels in Malaysia’ category of the 2013 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.
Bayview’s area general manager Edwin Yap expressed pride at the resort’s No. 7 ranking, and thanked guests who took the time to review and recommend it on the website, on which users share travel tips and experiences about hotels, attractions and things to do at various destinations worldwide.
“Besides receiving this accolade that we offer great value, we are also delighted that Bayview Beach scored a 80% very good rating from over 500 reviews, while its sister property Bayview Hotel Georgetown had a 70% above average rating,” he said.
Now in its 11th year, the annual TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards honours the world’s best hotels, which earned their distinction based on feedback from guests who had stayed in the respective establishments.
This year, the awards took into account some 75 million reviews from travellers around the globe, according to TripAdvisor’s business division president Christine Petersen. “We are once again thrilled to recognise the world’s most outstanding hotels. From the best bargain hotels to top luxury properties, outstanding service, value and quality are the hallmarks of our Travellers’ Choice winners,” she added.
Located along scenic Batu Ferringhi, the 360-room Bayview Beach Resort also offers seven food and beverage outlets, three ballrooms and eight function rooms amidst sprawling gardens and a large, free form swimming pool.
Bayview Hotel Georgetown comprises 333 rooms, five food and beverage outlets, one ballroom and six meeting rooms, and located close to commercial hubs, shopping malls, food courts, and historic and cultural landmarks of the Unesco World Heritage city.
Meanwhile, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa, Penang, added to its impressive list of accolades with three citations in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice 2013 awards. The resort was ranked 7th among the ‘Top 25 Hotels in Malaysia’, 5th for the ‘Top 25 Hotels for Service in Malaysia’, and 8th for the ‘Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Malaysia’ categories, in results released recently.
Its director of communications Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman, expressed pride at making the winners’ lists, and said they hope to continue earning more accolades and remain a prominent player in the local hospitality industry.
The resort, located along the island’s famed Batu Feringghi beaches, was also named the Top Leisure Hotel for 2012, by Now Travel Asia Magazine in its February 2013 issue. Its neighbouring sister property, Golden Sands Resort, was crowned Asia’s Top Beach Hotel for 2012, in the same publication.
