Kuala Lumpur will play host to Asia Harley Days to be held in from September 14 to 20.
The event is being organised by Harley-Davidson, Inc, in collaboration with Tourism Ministry and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) in conjunction with the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebrations, making it the exclusive regional experience hub in South-East Asia.
The event is part of Harley- Davidson’s global tour to celebrate its “110th Anniversary: 110 Years of Freedom”, sharing epic experiences with fans from all corners of the globe. From the Tibetan Plateau in China to Sturgis in the United States; from Rome in Italy to Faaker See in Austria, Asia Harley Days will be the culmination of a year-long, global celebration across 11 countries on six different continents.
Harley-Davidson Asia Pacific marketing operations director Greg Willis said: “Kuala Lumpur is the perfect place to hold this event due to its strategic location in South-East Asia and the strong support of Tourism Malaysia and MyCeb, which recognises the huge tourism potential of Malaysia playing host to Asia Harley Days.”
Asia Harley Days will take place at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and include members of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), the motor company’s official riding club, taking part in numerous planned activities.
H.O.G. members from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the rest of the world are expected to attend this celebration. The event is free and is open to the public.
Events and activities include a flag parade, promotions, exhibition, displays, demo rides as well as a riding tour from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu and Penang.
For H.O.G. members, the event will include a welcome dinner, special access, promotions and deals throughout the week’s events.
“The event gives all Harley-David-son fans the opportunity to experience our brand and bring us closer to our customers who have been loyal and supportive over the years,” said Iskandar Shahril, who is Harley-Davidson Asia Pacific’s marketing manager for Asia direct markets.
Meanwhile, MyCEB chief executive officer Zulkefli Sharif said, “MyCEB is pleased to once again play a role in supporting international lifestyle events that will further strengthen Malaysia’s position as the preferred location for special events.
“Indeed, Malaysia is a country that is conducive for countless types of events and, coupled with a myriad interesting activities that are unique to the country, the participants will have an excellent time.
“Asia Harley Days in 2013 is a very big event for the country. It is expected to draw at least 5,000 foreign attendees, which is worth RM50mil in economic impact,” he added.
