KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will host the 26th Miss Tourism International World Finals from Nov 10-25 with participants from up to 50 countries.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said it will be the largest pageant to be held in the state.
"The pageant's finals will definitely bring tremendous publicity to the state and puts Sabah in pageantry world news," she said when witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
The agreement was for the appointment of EventLab Works and Supplies Sdn Bhd as well as D'Touch International Sdn Bhd as the host organiser. The pageant's title owner Tan Sri Danny Ooi was also present.
Liew expressed appreciation to Ooi for choosing Sabah as the host and congratulated the joint organising chairpersons Xandria Ban, who is Miss Malaysia Tourism 2015 and Genie Chua for accepting the responsibility of organising the prestigious event.
She said the state Tourism Ministry and Sabah Tourism Board will fully support the pageant.
The pageant themed, "Bringing the World to Sabah" will see participants engaging in various tourism promotional activities, including visiting the Orang Utan Sanctuary in Sandakan, enjoying the beauty of Sabah beaches and savouring local delicacies.
Present to witness the signing of the MoU were Miss Tourism International 2022's reigning queen, Suphatra Kliangprom from Thailand; Miss Tourism Global 2022 Chrystal Huang from Singapore; Miss South East Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2022 Phoebe Ong; and Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2022 Ellen Rachel.
