Batik Air to launch flights from KLIA to Sapporo, Osaka next month

 


KUALA LUMPUR: Batik Air, formerly Malindo Air, will be launching flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Sapporo and Osaka via Taipei from Jan 3 and Jan 20 next year respectively.

The announcement was made after the recent launch of its four-time weekly flights on the popular Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo route.

"The new flights are deployed to meet the growing demand for travel between Malaysia and Japan," the airline said in a statement.

In conjunction with the launch of the new routes to Japan, Batik Air is offering promotional fare tickets which are now available for booking for Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo from as low as RM1,590 all-in for economy class.

For flights from Taipei to Sapporo, promotional one-way economy class fare starts from NT$4,695.

Economy class promotional fare from Sapporo to Kuala Lumpur starts from 57,300 Japanese yen, whereas, for flights from Sapporo to Taipei, one-way economy class fare starts from 22,010 Japanese yen.

Chief executive officer Captain Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri said with the launching of these routes to Sapporo and Osaka, Batik Air was highly optimistic of the market growth to the land of the rising sun.

"In addition to the four-time weekly flights to Osaka, and three-time weekly flights to Sapporo, Batik Air is planning to increase flights to Tokyo to seven times a week. By March next year, Batik Air will have a combined 14 weekly flights between Malaysia and Japan," he said.

Mushafiz added that Batik Air wanted to create more options in regional connectivity and tapping on a huge tourism potential with the introduction of routes to Japan.
