Nearly 300 exhibitors at MATTA Fair Penang

GEORGE TOWN: The coming Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Penang 2019 has received overwhelming response with 293 exhibitors confirming their participation.

MATTA honorary secretary-general Nigel Wong said the association had to limit the number of exhibitors for better management.

“We had to turn away late applications and limit it to 293 booths.

“This is a record number compared to the 266 booths we had at a similar fair in Penang in April, ” Wong said at a press conference to announce the fair at Setia SPICE Convention Centre here yesterday.

MATTA Fair Penang 2019 will be held from Oct 11 to 13 at the Setia SPICE Arena from 10am to 9pm.

“We are expecting a similar sales turnover of RM41mil and about 35,000 visitors as achieved during MATTA Fair Penang 2019 in April this year, ” he said.

This time, the fair will include the participation of state tourism organisations from Sarawak, Johor, Melaka and Terengganu.

The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office and Korea Tourism Organisation too have have confirmed participation, he added.

Penang Hop-On Hop-Off is the official sponsor, Malaysia Airlines the official airline and Merchantrade the official money changer.

Hop-On Hop-Off customer service senior executive Luqman Mohd Yusof said the firm would be having a special promotion called Ronda-Ronda Penang at the fair.

Under the promotion, he said visitors could buy tickets at discounted rates of RM12 (from RM22) for the Penang Hop-On Hop-Off bus and RM15 (from RM25) for the Kuala Lumpur Hop-On Hop-Off bus.
