JOHOR BARU: Malaysia
International Travel Market (MITM) is targetting RM20mil worth of sales during
Johor MITM Travel Fair 2019.
Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) Johor
chapter chairman Kelvin Ang said the three-day event from July 19 to 21 will be
held at Level 2 and 3 Sutera Mall, Taman Sutera Utama, Skudai from 10am to
10pm.
“We have more than 25 exhibitors with 160 booths
that offer travel packages for local destinations and overseas covering
South-East Asia, Asia, Europe and the Unites States.
“We will focus on drawing tourists from Sabah and
Sarawak to come to the peninsula,” he said in a press conference.
Ang said theme parks and unique locations in the
peninsula must be promoted.
“Sabah and Sarawak have many beautiful tourist
attractions, with both locals and foreigners flocking there.
“Now we want to bring them here as well,” he said,
adding that a total of 30,000 people were expected to visit the fair.
“Johor is the first location for the fair that will
also be held in Ipoh, Penang and Sabah in July and in Kuala Lumpur in August.
“A lucky draw with prizes totalling RM88,888 awaits
visitors,” said Ang.
He said MITM had collected RM10mil last year.
He added that a travel company from Taiwan was also
part of the fair and would promote unique villages in the country under the
slogan “Jalan-Jalan Kampung in Taiwan”.
