KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 (Bernama) — Express
Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), the operator of the KLIA Ekspres service, will
continue to provide quality services to customers, to stay relevant in the
railway industry.
Executive chairman Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said the company wants to increase the usage of the train services along the corridor, despite the competition that it received, be it from direct or indirect competitors and namely e-hailing services.
“We are not the only one providing services to the various destinations along the corridor. Therefore, we need to provide value-added services to customers,” he told reporters.
ERL today revealed its collaboration with KL Hop-On Hop-Off to provide the quickest way for transiting passengers with at least eight hours of waiting time at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KLIA 2 to have a sneak peek expedition into Kuala Lumpur.
It is targeting passengers from the Middle East, the United States and Europe with the package.
Mohd Nadzmi said this new package is an ideal way for first time visitors to Kuala Lumpur to experience a flexible city tour at their own pace.
He said with the Visit Malaysia Year next year, the company is hopeful of gaining attraction with the services.
According to the Tourism and Culture Ministry, 2018 saw 25.8 million arrivals, bringing in revenue of RM84.1 billion for the country.
This year, the ministry expects 28 million tourists arrivals and 30 million in 2020.
“We expect for the first year to sell 150 tickets daily and by year-end, the number will grow to 1000. We hope it will grow at least 20 per cent in the future,” Mohd Nadzmi said.
The package launched today includes a KLIA Ekspres return ticket and a round trip on the KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus.
Ticket are priced at RM65 for children between 2-12 years old and RM140 for adults and the KL Hop-On Hop-Off service is from KL Sentral.
