NEW DELHI, June 20 (Bernama) -- India's biggest airline, IndiGo, will expand its Malaysian services with twice daily flights between Chennai and Kuala Lumpur from August.

The budget carrier at present operates daily flights connecting Kuala Lumpur with New Delhi and Bangalore.

"We will be operating four flights daily to Kuala Lumpur from India. Malaysia to us is a market of great potential and we are determined to expand our operations into Malaysia," chief commercial officer, Willy Boulter told Bernama.

He said the Chennai-Kuala Lumpur service will begin on August 15.

The airline's initial focus is on Kuala Lumpur, but other Malaysian destinations may be added to its network later, as business and tourism traffic remains strong.

"I am confident that IndiGo will become a major player in the Malaysian travel industry. So far, Kuala Lumpur has been a successful operation, ahead of our expectations, and we would like to add more flights," Boulter said.

"Penang is the most obvious place, certainly Langkawi is a possibility," he added.
