Fest to showcase best of Malaysia to Thais


BANGKOK, June 11 (Bernama) — The inaugural Malaysia Fest 2019 here will showcase Malaysia’s rich and diverse multi-ethnic society through cultural performances, food, crafts and fashion.

The Malaysia Fest 2019 will be held at Central World in the heart of the Thai capital from June 20 to 23, in conjunction with the 34th ASEAN Summit.

Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to launch the event on June 21.

Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Jojie Samuel said the four-day event would be participated by more than 80 companies and entrepreneurs from Malaysia, each with their own unique products and services.

He said the products to be showcased included frozen food, coffee, cereals, biscuits, confectionery, beauty products and handicrafts.

“One of the highlights of the event is where visitors will get a taste of Malaysian street food as well as cooking demonstrations of authentic Malaysian cuisine including nasi lemak, char koey teow, asam pedas. It will be prepared and served hot from the pot

“We hope the Thais will come and experience for themselves authentic Malaysian food,” he told a media conference here today.

Also present Malaysia -Thai Chamber of Commerce (MTCC) chairman Dr Hwee Khim Boo, Marketing Manager of Central World Bangkok Patson Sarindu and Conceptual Events Worldwide Co Ltd chief executive officer Soh Chee Beng.

The Malaysia Fest 2019 is organised by MTCC and Conceptual Events Worldwide Co Ltd. It is endorsed by Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, supported by Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Malaysia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry and Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board.

Jojie said tourism products, travel package as well as education opportunities, healthcare facilities and products would also be showcased at the event.

“The Malaysia Fest will also be a good platform for the Thai business community and Malaysian product owners to establish networks and explore business opportunities in cross-border product distribution,” he said 

He added that visitors would get a glimpse of Malaysian traditional cultural performances

Lucky visitors will stand a chance to win return air tickets to Malaysia, free hotel stay and other prizes in the various programmes lined up, he said.
