IPOH, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- A cycling programme in Ipoh, organised by M Bike Sdn Bhd, with the cooperation of Tourism Malaysia Perak and the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs (SAME) is set to lure more tourists to the state.
State tourism, arts, culture, multimedia and communications committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the activity would be made into a new attraction in the Perak tourism programme.
"The programme will also open up new business opportunities as there are many outside parties such as from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore who are interested to invest in the M Bike Sdn Bhd project like cycling in the city.
"The bicycles for rental will be placed at strategic places and customers can return them at any bicycle station," she told a press conference after flagging off participants in the Asian Entrepreneurs Interaction Bike Cycling Tour here today.
She said M Bike Sdn Bhd would also be introducing the Dynamic Green City Planning project in the state soon.
Nolee Ashilin said the objective of the Dynamic Green City Planning project was to minimise the effects of global warming, insufficient energy, traffic congestion and other social problems.
"The state government fully supports this and the project will be implemented in Ipoh and Taiping in 2016, making it the first Eco-Sports City in the country."
Today's programme included 60 participants from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia cycling five kilometres in the Kinta Riverfront Hotel area here.
