New date for Formula E Putrajaya ePrix

30 July 2014: Organisers of the FIA Formula E Championship have today announced that the date of the 2014 Formula E Putrajaya ePrix (Round 2) is to change from October 18 2014 to November 22 2014.
The decision, which has been confirmed by the FIA and the local motorsport federation, comes at the request of the office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak. Due to other agenda commitments, the Prime Minister was unable to attend the original race date and has subsequently requested the event to be rescheduled.
Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “The Prime Minister has been fundamental to the FIA Formula E Championship racing in Malaysia and, following lengthy consultation with the FIA and the local motorsport federation, Formula E has decided to honour the request to reschedule the Putrajaya ePrix.”
All other Formula E race dates remain as before with the season opener taking place in Beijing around the iconic Olympic ‘Bird’s Nest’ Stadium on September 13 2014.
Formula E is the FIA’s new fully-electric single-seater championship designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans, whilst accelerating the interest in electric vehicles and promoting sustainability. Competing entirely on city-centre circuits – with races in China, Malaysia, Uruguay, USA, Monaco, Germany and the UK – it uses cars capable of speeds in excess of 150mph (225kph). Its 10 teams and 20 drivers feature some of the leading international names in motorsport including Alain Prost and Michael Andretti, along with high-profile environmental supporters including Sir Richard Branson.
