IPOH: Perak today unveiled the Muslim-friendly tourism package, Islamic Journey, to attract Muslim tourists, especially from the Middle East, China, and Europe, to visit the state.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said this initiative aligns with the state government's goal of ensuring that the tourism industry continues to grow.

He said this package not only has the potential to become a specialised segment within the tourism sector but also to act as a catalyst for the success of Visit Perak Year 2024.

"Through this package, we are not only promoting Perak as a preferred travel destination but also ensuring that the provided travel experiences align with Shariah requirements," he said in his speech at a restaurant here, tonight.

Saarani added that Perak, with its rich Islamic history and culture, is uniquely positioned to offer engaging tourism experiences, including halal food facilities and a variety of services.

"The package offers an intriguing and comprehensive itinerary. Imagine stepping into the Ubudiah Mosque in Kuala Kangsar, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture built in 1917. "Or exploring the Muhammadiah Mosque in Tasek, Ipoh, also known as the Chinese Mosque, which reflects the harmony and cultural assimilation in the state.

"I am confident that the uniqueness offered through the package will attract Muslim tourists, who will be captivated by the mosques in Perak, which blend Islamic architectural elements with a variety of cultural influences," he said.

He said the initiative is also in line with the state government's desire to make Perak a developed state that balances physical and economic development with the preservation of religious and cultural values.

"Through this package, we are not only showcasing the beauty of Islam but also strengthening unity and harmony among different races and religions in the state. "Perak has great potential to attract Muslim tourists from around the world.

"We also hope that the package will be widely marketed and receive a positive response from international markets such as Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei," he said.
