MELAKA:
Lonely Planet has named Melaka among Asia's top 10 travel destinations in a
list that includes Sri Lanka's hill country and Takayama in Japan.
Melaka,
which came in at ninth place, saw Lonely Planet recommending boat rides along
the Melaka river and the Zheng He Duo Yun Zuan gallery space.
"Boat
rides along this meandering waterway are popular and soon water taxis will
connect the Melaka Sentral bus station with downtown," said Lonely Planet.
It also
recommended the weekend Trash & Treasure flea market as a place to search
for souvenirs.
The 2017
Best in Asia list which came out on Tuesday was topped by China's Gansu
province, for being "blissfully well-connected yet underrated relatively
crowd-free".
In second place was the urban scene in the south of Tokyo, Japan
while India's northern Kerala took third place, for "emerging slowly like
a butterfly from a chrysalis".
