Tourism Ministry agreeable to Rajinikanth as Malacca's tourism ambassador

KUALA LUMPUR: The Tourism and Culture Ministry will consider making Tamil movie superstar Rajinikanth as Malacca's next tourism ambassador.
"We can contact him to be our tourism ambassador," Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz told MP Sim Tong Hin (DAP-Kota Melaka) during his winding up speech in the Dewan Rakyat.
Sim said Shah Rukh Khan failed to bring in Indian tourists when he was tourism ambassador to Malacca.
"What is your opinion if we appoint Rajinikanth, who starred in Kabali,  as tourism ambassador?
"He is very famous and Shah Rukh Khan is not very effective," said Sim.
Rajinikanth starred in the hit Tamil movie Kabali which was largely shot in Malaysia.
Shah Rukh Khan was appointed tourism ambassador for Malacca in 2008, and was also awarded a 'Datukship' from the state government.
In 2011, he shot several scenes for his film Don 2 (the sequel to Don, released in 2006) in Malacca.
