LABUAN, March 3 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia has brought 19 newly-certified divers to Labuan for a four-day familiarisation trip, beginning today, to help promote diving at the island.

Its effort to bring the divers - who have undergone the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Course - is in line with positioning the country, particularly the island, as one of the premier diving destinations, including wreck diving.

The divers who are from China, Germany, Japan, Latvia, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States of America will explore various well-known dive sites around the island.

The sites include KM Pemanggil Wreck, Cement Wreck, Blue Water Wreck, Australia Wreck, and America Wreck.

The divers are experienced PADI master instructors who attended the PADI Course Director Training Course (CDTC) in Kota Kinabalu from Feb 21 to March 1.

The annual CDTC is held for the 19th year running in Sabah.
