PUTRAJAYA, July 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today officiated the 2014 Putrajaya Ramadan Festival at the compound of the Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) Complex.
In his speech, he said the festival provided facility for the consumers to obtain their Hari Raya and breaking of fast needs at reasonable prices.
"I am very impressed with the concept of the festival that showcases and combines religious and business elements that can bring benefits to Muslim consumers," he said. At the function, he also presented donations totalling RM15,000 to orphans and welfare bodies.
The prime minister then proceeded to spend some time to visit the stalls at the festival, being organised by PPj, International Trade and Industry Ministry and Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry.
The festival, which is opened from 12 noon until 12 midnight, is held at the PPj vicinity, Kiblat Walk and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque at Precinct 3 here.
Among the activities throughout the festival, which started from June 19 until July 27, are sales of food, Hari Raya essential items and religious activities such as religious talks presented by popular lecturers, including Ustaz Kazim Elias.
PPj will also distribute dates, zam zam water and meals for breaking of fast and 'moreh' free of charge. Adding merriment to the festival are nasyid performances by popular nasyid groups like Inteam, Saujana and Nowseeheart as well as Panjut Komuniti competition.
