Tourism Malaysia Penang Targets More Than RM200,000 In Sales From Campaign

GEORGE TOWN, June 6 (Bernama) -- The Penang chapter of Tourism Malaysia has set a sales target of more than RM200,000 from its Durian Durian 3.0 "Back by Popular Demand" - Eat As Much As You Can campaign.

Its domestic marketing division director, Datuk Musa Yusof said the campaign which kicked off on June 1, would be carried out until the end of next month, offering various durian packages such as Durian Durian 3.0, Durian Farm Stay, Durian Walking Tour, Durian Lovers Experience and Homestay-Durian Orchard Trail.

"We are looking at more than RM200,000 this year because the first year when we started this campaign in 2012, it was RM90,000 in terms of durian packages sold. In 2013, it was RM200,000...we are looking for more this year," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the launch of the campaign by Penang Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang here Friday.

Musa said special durian packages such as the Durian Durian 3.0 - The Return of The King has been developed where durians were sold at RM15 per kilogramme. He said 10 travel agents from Nanjin in China had partnered with Dragon Air to develop durian tour packages for the Chinese market.
