JOHOR BAHARU, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- Puteri Harbour Indoor Theme Park, which features the first Sanrio Hello Kitty Town outside of Japan, has proven to be a major attraction for visitors to Iskandar Malaysia.

Since opening its doors a year ago, the theme park, which also has other attractions for children such as Barney, Bob The Builder an Pingu, has managed to woo over half a million visitors.

"The Puteri Harbour Indoor Theme Park has received over 500,000 visitors since its opening a year ago," said Millennium Associates Sdn Bhd, the public relations company for the theme park, in a statement Thursday. The theme park is set to transform Iskandar Malaysia into a popular family tourism destination.

The RM115 million theme park is a four-storey building strategically located in Nusajaya, Johor's administrative capital, and is the second internationally-acclaimed theme park to be opened in Johor after Legoland Malaysia.

The theme park provides a series of unique experiences and excitement through popular children's characters from Lat's Place, Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and the Little Big Club.

The Sanrio Hello Kitty Town, consists of various walk-through attractions, interactive activities and rides, which follow the Hello Kitty Theme, while The Little Big Club features lovable children characters such as Bob the Builder, Barney, Angelina Ballerina, Pingu and Thomas and Friends.

It will be the first time in the world that the five popular global characters are housed in a single-themed attraction, adding originality and exclusivity to the Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park.
