ISTANBUL, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Delicious and savoury spread of Perlis traditional food and delicacies, as well as its culture, are being promoted here as an initiative to promote Malaysia and Perlis as must-visit tourist destinations.

The Perlis food promotion is being held at the DUBB restaurant owned by a local resident, Ahmet Aras, and was launched last night by Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

It is organised by Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra, with cooperation from UniMAP, Tourism Malaysia Perlis and BMC Travel Sdn Bhd here.

Ahmet said during the week-long promotion, he would not only promote Perlis traditional food and delicacies, but would also distribute flyers about Malaysia and Perlis to his customers, who would also be entertained with cultural performance by UniMAP's delegates.

Meanwhile, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, said efforts to promote Perlis' traditional food and delicacies, as well as its halal industry and people's hospitality, should be empowered to lure more tourists, especially from Turkey, to Perlis, hence boosting the state's tourism sector.

"Tourism promotion must be carried out continuously, locally and abroad, so that Malaysia will always be remembered and considered as one of the must-visit tourist destinations," he told Bernama.
