LANGKAWI will host the 4th International UNESCO Conference on Geoparks 2010 from April 9 to 15. The conference is expected to attract some 500 to 1,000 delegates from 60 countries, said Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) tourism manager Megat Shahrul Azman Abas. Jointly organised by LADA and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, it is the second Geopark conference to be held in Langkawi after the Regional Conference on Asia-Pacific Geoparks and Business Dialogue 2007. The whole of Langkawi was accorded Geopark status by UNESCO on June 1, 2007.
