MALAYSIAN Iran market specialists are anticipating an increase in arrivals during the Nourooz (Iranian New Year) holiday season, from March 18 to April 4. Se Wac Travel & Tours general manager Mohammad Kiani anticipates a 20 per cent increase in volume over last year for the holidays. He said demand for twinning Kuala Lumpur with Singapore has also increased mainly due to heightened destination awareness efforts by the Singapore Tourism Board. Grace Holidays general manager Godwin Miranda expects a 30 per cent increase in volume over the same period last year, returning thereby to 2008 levels.
AirAsia X is mounting two charters from Tehran to Kuala Lumpur on March 18 and 19 while Iran Air will fly five charters during Nourooz on the same route in addition to its four weekly scheduled flights.
