Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia continues to regard itself as one of the top accommodation spots for Middle East travellers to the city. General manager, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur, Melvin Lim highlighted a range of factors which enable the property to cater to even the most demanding Middle East travellers. “We are strategically located in between the Pavilion shopping mall (a joint venture with the Qatar Investment Authority) which is 50m to our left, and which has six Arabic restaurants on the right within 100m,” he explained to TTG.
“Naturally the Pavilion has become a primary attraction for the Arab market with shopping and entertainment offerings, and the growth of Arabic restaurant alongside our hotel has led to Bukit Bintang as ‘Arab Street’ by the Middle East market. “We also provide Arabic dishes on our buffet in the Mill and offer a selection of Arabic dishes in our room service menu.” Lim added that the Middle East market has become one of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur’s primary geographic sources of business. “It [the Middle East] is developing into a year-round market as to the usual June to August summer market.”
Meanwhile, the 468-room property has announced to TTG its plans to renovate its executive floor accommodation and suites, in a bid to boost business in 2010 and beyond. The announcement follows extensive renovations that were carried out on all the hotel’s public areas, meeting facilities and deluxe rooms in 2008. “The renovations will support us in our bid to develop room yield, and provide even higher services as we look to develop business from the discerning Middle East market, especially in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Iran.”
