LANGKAWI: The BDB Langkawi Climb is back with a bang,
challenging climbers and outdoor enthusiasts to compete in a 5km race and climb
4,287 steps to reach the Gunung Raya peak.
The event by Kumpulan Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) attracted more
than 400 local and international participants. The last edition was in 2017.
The race was flagged off by BDB Group executive director Raja
Shahreen Raja Othman in Darulaman Sactuary at 7.30am today (June 29).
Ku Aliff Aiman Ku Zainol won in the Men's Elite category,
while Krystal Khaw won in the Women's Elite category. They each took home RM500
and a trophy.
Mahayuddin Mangsor and Maryani Ismail won the Men's Senior
Elite and Women's Senior Elite categories, respectively, walking away with
RM500 and a trophy.
In the International Men and International Women categories,
Muhammad Sayat Jiyabul Houqe from the United States and Ida Latin from
Singapore won RM700 and a trophy.
Raja Shahreen said the BDB Langkawi Climb 2024 was part of the
state-owned conglomerate's initiatives to promote Darulaman Sanctuary in Lubuk
Semilang, as well as Tangga Helang Seribu Kenangan in Gunung Raya.
"We wish to promote Darulaman Sanctuary in Lubuk Semilang
as one of the preferred venues for sports tourism events in Langkawi.
"We are delighted by the overwhelming response from over
400 local and foreign participants.
"We hope BDB Langkawi Climb will become one of the main
events for sports and outdoor enthusiasts."
