SEOUL, 9 May 2024 –
Tourism Malaysia is gearing up its marketing efforts to entice tourists from
South Korea by participating in the 39th Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF)
2024. Malaysia aims to stimulate demands from this market and further perceived
as one of the most vibrant destinations with myriad offerings through its
unique blend of religions, traditions, festivals, languages, food, and many
more.
Held at COEX from 9th to 12th May 2024, Malaysia will be
introducing its uniqueness and niche packages crafted to cater for the needs of
this market – namely Edu+ packages, to establish Malaysia as a fun and
versatile education tourism destination in Asia Pacific. Besides education,
Sarawak Delta Geopark & Gawai, a unique geopark tourism product and the
Gawai Festival celebration in Sarawak and Dive Into Unimaginable, the wonderful
and exciting diving packages in Malaysia, will also be featured further to entice
the interest of South Korean towards Malaysia wonders.
The Malaysia booth was officiated by H.E. Dato' Mohd Zamruni bin
Khalid, the Malaysian Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of
Korea. The Malaysian delegation comprises state tourism bodies, airlines and
esteemed organisations, namely Sabah and Sarawak Tourism Board, Batik Air, and
the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI). To
further attract visitors, Malaysia will be showcasing special cultural
performances and a Malaysian Batik demonstration, a textile art that has motifs
that identify the art and culture of Malaysian society.
The Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, said: “South Korea has
been the primary source market for Malaysia, and last year alone, Malaysia
received a total of 400,853 tourists from South Korea. In anticipation of Visit
Malaysia Year 2026, Malaysia will highlight its richness in cultural heritage,
breathtaking natural scenery, and contemporary facilities that cater to all
types of travellers. Apart from its leisure offerings, Malaysia has evolved as
one of the preferred choices for overseas education tourism destinations for
South Koreans.”
With enhanced air connectivity and robust promotional efforts,
Tourism Malaysia is set to woo 27.3 million international tourist arrivals and
RM102.7 billion (USD 21.5 billion) in tourism receipts this year.
