NESTLED at the edge of Kuala Perlis, the Al-Hussain Mosque
stands as a majestic testament to modern Islamic architecture, seamlessly
blending with the tropical landscape.
Officially inaugurated by Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed
Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail on Oct 8, 2011, this
mosque has quickly become more than just a place of worship; it's a symbol of
unity, a beacon of faith, and a tourist attraction.
A RESORT AMIDST FAITH
Designed with a resort-like ambiance, the Al-Hussain Mosque
transcends traditional architectural boundaries to embrace a modern Islamic
aesthetic that encourages appreciation for nature.
The choice
of natural materials such as coral stones, broken quartz, and marble emphasises
its commitment to harmony with the environment.
A FLOATING SANCTUARY
What sets the Al-Hussain Mosque apart is its floating
structure, providing a serene and idyllic setting that extends from the Kuala
Perlis shoreline.
It's a breathtaking sight, whether you're approaching from the
legendary Langkawi Island or the bustling ikan bakar (BBQ fish) food court
nearby.
Its location and design destined it to be a distinguished
landmark in Perlis, drawing in both locals and tourists, fostering a sense of
community and solidarity.
A CAPACITY TO UNITE
With the ability to accommodate up to 1001 worshippers, the
mosque's spacious main hall and multipurpose prayer hall invite individuals to
immerse themselves in tranquillity and devotion.
The beauty of the mosque, both externally and internally,
needs to be experienced firsthand to be truly appreciated.
THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE ICON
The inception of the Al-Hussain Mosque, aimed at being an
iconic gateway to Langkawi, was inspired by His Highness Raja Muda of Perlis,
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.
The vision was brought to life by Tan Sri Mohd Ariffin Yusuf,
fulfilling a charitable legacy. This monumental project was supported by the
Perlis Council of Islamic Religious and Malay Customs, highlighting a
collaborative spirit.
UNIQUE FEATURES
The mosque is globally renowned for its hexagonal twin peak
minaret, a first of its kind, symbolising the pinnacle of human creation and
the six Tenets of Iman in Islam.
Standing at 31.3 metres, with signal lights that illuminate at
prayer times, it guides not just those on land but also fishermen at sea,
blending functionality with spiritual symbolism.
