LANGKAWI, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Langkawi Homestay Association is planning to expand a kampung stay concept in the island as an effort to attract more tourists to choose the accommodation.

Its chairman, Mokhtar Shahabudin said the concept of kampung stay were different with homestay because the tourists would be provided a separate house from the owners.

"This is different from the homestay concept whereby tourists need to stay with the house owners," he told Bernama here Friday.

He said to date, two operators in Kampung Bukit Tangga, Mukim Ulu Melaka had implemented the Kampung Stay concept before expanding it to the other areas in Langkawi.

According to him, a total of 105 homestay operators were providing 188 rooms in five villages here, with many of them being interested to implement the Kampung Stay concept.
