Visitors to the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Flower and Garden Festival 2015 will be spellbound by a very unique special treat, an astonishing sound and sight simulation experience depicting a Spring Garden in its enthralling floral splendour; complemented by cool breezes amidst a snowy panorama at the Winter garden. These attractions culminate an inspiration initiated by the President of Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) and manifested by Putrajaya Floria Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of PPj tasked to manage Royal FLORIA Putrajaya.
Benchmarked on the renowned Chelsea Flower Show, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya, the region’s grandest flower and garden festival will return with captivating colours and floral diversity that is set to excite and inspire the imagination of visitors. Themed ‘Tapestry of Hues’, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya promises an exhibition of more than 100 varieties of the Lily flower family in beautifully decorated garden landscapes designed specifically to delight the visual palates of visitors.
The 8th edition of the International Flower and Garden Festival, organised by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) with the support of the Ministry of Federal Territories and Tourism Malaysia, is expected to attract record local and foreign visitors with the addition of new components at Anjung Floria.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya capitalizes on displays and exhibits from international participants as key pull factors for visitors. Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 is set to include more than 50 international participants from 28 nations who will put on display their floral and landscape designs. They include floral designers and landscape architects from South Africa, Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Germany, Kenya, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Netherlands, Oman, The Philippines, Spain, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand and The United Kingdom.
Visitors can enjoy various renditions of indoor and outdoor gardens and appreciate the creativity and expertise of renowned floral designers and landscape architects, local and international. Visitors will get to further savour the creativity and expertise in floral design and landscaping displayed at outdoor gardens from various government agencies, corporate bodies, private sector participants, civil and social organisations, universities, secondary and primary schools.
“Our efforts to position Royal FLORIA Putrajaya as a destination of choice on the international flower festival map is coming to fruition with a representative of the organisers of the Melbourne Flower Show scheduled to visit Royal FLORIA Putrajaya. Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is also offering an array of value added features highlighted by an online ticket purchase system via a mobile application, Putrajaya Mobile Apps,” the President of Putrajaya Corporation, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Aseh Hj Che Mat, told correspondents following the soft launch of Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 at Putrajaya International Conference and Convention Centre today, officiated by the Deputy Minister of Federal Territories, Dato’ Dr. Loga Bala Mohan.
“This maiden application, developed for Perbadanan Putrajaya and positioning Royal FLORIA Putrajaya as a pilot project, will facilitate visitors’ routing to Anjung Floria, purchasing tickets online and accessing information on FLORIA from beacons located at various strategic points,” he added.
The Spring and Winter Gardens, employing the latest technology for temperature and weather simulations, promises pleasant and enduring experiences for visitors to be awed by scenic landscapes adorned with tulips, lilies and roses from Kenya dan Ecuador.
Another main attraction, the Floral Pavilion will present a new feature with the Embassy Row highlighting the participation of the embassies of Kenya, Ecuador, Oman and Indonesia. These embassies will display flowers from their home countries resplendent in myriad creative variations, designs and arrangements.
Reminiscent of every edition of Royal FLORIA Putrajaya, participants will be vying for several awards. These include Royal FLORIA Putrajaya International Cup for the winning design among international participants at the Floral Pavilion, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Garden Cup for the overall winner of the outdoor garden display and awards for the Royal FLORIA International Orchid Competition. In addition, 10 participants comprising 5 local participants and 5 international participants, will be competing for a cash prize of RM10,000 in the Designer Gardens competition.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 will also feature a host of additional attractions like the Lily Garden, Royal Garden, Designer Garden, Tea Party Garden, Innovation Garden, Feline Garden, Children’s Garden and Floral Pavilion. The Plants Bazaar and Horticulture Market offers gardening supplies and plants as decorations, herbs and salad greens, fruit trees, potted flowering plants, garden furniture, gardening tools, biotechnology products and landscaping services.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 will feature 300 daily activities throughout the nine-day exhibition and festival. These activities include floral design and arrangement demonstrations, gardening workshops, entertainment events, photography competition, water paint and arts and crafts exhibits.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 continues established trends by offering new attractions to add value to the event every year. 2015 will highlight the Spring and Winter Gardens, Spa Garden, Pinwheel Garden, English Garden and Glamping Garden site, to correspond to the garden theme of “Outdoor Lifestyles”.
The China-Malaysia Friendship Garden featuring elements of the Lingnan garden will remain as the first permanent component of Anjung Floria. This inaugural friendship garden in Putrajaya developed with the cooperation of the Malaysia China Friendship Association (PPMC), is already proving to be a favourite attraction for local and foreign tourists.
In addition, FLORIA Flavours will return and is expected to be a popular component offering original Malaysian cuisines under one roof. Foodies and visitors can look forward to enjoy their favourite dishes from Malacca, Johor, Perak, Penang and Terengganu, among others.
Lastly, in continuing the tradition, Royal FLORIA 2015 will serve as a platform to attract and foster young student talents in garden design from universities, secondary schools and primary schools to participate in the Garden Competition under the supervision of their lecturers and instructors. This year will see the participation of 20 primary schools, 16 secondary schools and 21 universities.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is an international festival of flower and garden showcase hosted by PPj since 2007. It became an annual event since 2009 after receiving an overwhelming response from visitors. Royal FLORIA Putrajaya showcases commercial products from the horticulture and landscaping industry, garden displays, demonstrations by garden designers and flower shows from local and international exponents where all attractions are presented amidst a garden setting.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2015 will be opened to the public from May 30 to June 7, 2015 from 9:00 am - 10:30 pm (Monday to Thursday), and from 9:00 am to 12:00 midnight (Friday to Sunday). To facilitate the hordes of visitors, entrance ticket counters will be opened two days prior to FLORIA’s official kick off on May 28 and 29 from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.
