Halal Industry Seminar – The North Edition ( 28 May 2015 )

Following up the recent success of the first Halal Industry Seminar at PWTC Kuala Lumpur, ITC is now gearing up north to bring the seminar to Penang, one of the most popular tourism destinations in Malaysia, targeting the region’s hoteliers, tour operators, tour guides and tourism product owners.

For the Northern edition, ITC will be teaming up with Tourism Malaysia Penang and the state’s own Halal developmental agency, Penang International Halal Hub (PIHH) Development, better known as Halal Penang. Slated to be held at The Gurney Resort and Residences on 28 May 2015, the seminar is also expected to draw participants from Kedah, Perlis and Perak.

In Penang, JAKIM will continue to anchor the seminar, with PNB Darby Park returning to fill in the success story’s  slot. PIHH Development will be presenting a paper on the opportunities and challenges in its quest to develop the state as a Muslim friendly destination.

The organising of the seminar in Penang is timely to continue the Halal momentum from the recently-concluded World Halal Summit 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. In the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) announced in March by CrescentRating and MasterCard, Malaysia’s top rank was highly attributed to the country’s widespread network of Halal eateries.

As of to date, 405 food premises in Penang are listed on JAKIM’s website with valid Halal certificate. Out of that number, 37 are registered as hotels and resorts.

All papers presented at the seminar will be conducted in Bahasa Melayu. RM20.00 administration fee will be charged during registration. Fee is waived for University / College students.
