Return Of A Racing Legend At World SBK In Sepang

Motorcycling fans will see the return of a legendary world class rider when Sepang International Circuit (SIC) hosts its second edition of the eniFIM World Superbike Championship 2015 (WSBK) Malaysia Round this year. 

SIC, the promoter and organiser of the event, which is also sponsoring the participation of the legendary rider as an added attraction, is however withholding his identity for the time being.  

“We are currently working on the finer details of the agreement. We are very excited with this collaboration and we are confident that motorcycling fans would be equally excited when the announcement is made very soon,” said SIC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Razlan Razali. 

Slotted as Round 10 of a 13-leg championship, the eniFIM World Superbike Championship 2015 Malaysia Round will be held from 31 July to 2 August - featuring the Superbike World Championship and the Supersport World Championship as well as a host of support races including Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship. 

“The legendary rider will be competing in the World Superbike Championship,” said Dato’ Razlan.

“We had ZaqhwanZaidi last year competing in the World Supersport Championship. We are continuing with the wildcard programmethis year; but with an entirely different approach by sponsoring an international big name,” he added. 

Anticipating a strong attendance this year with a host of exciting activities to make the WSBK weekend an exciting bike festival for all fans and spectators attending, the SIC CEO urged fans to get their tickets for the race now and take opportunity of the early bird promotions, which will end on 30 June.

Tickets purchased now start from as low as RM63.60 inclusive of GST for seats at the K1 Grandstand, which provides a perfect view of Turns 6, 7, 8 and 9 as well as Turn 15 and the entry of the front straight. Main Grandstand seats are now offered at RM106 against its normal price of RM137.80 inclusive of GST. 

For maximum enjoyment of the event, fans are recommended to purchase the Paddock Access tickets, which will allow fans to catch the event from the roof-top of the Pit Building, meet the riders and team members as well as enjoy a close view of the activities within the paddock. The paddock passes are currently offered at RM265 each compared tothe normal pricing of RM530. 

Fans also have the option of purchasing various ticket packages, which combines exclusive event merchandise with the ticket purchase. 

While the Paddock Access Package is currently offered at RM307.40 inclusive of GST, the Main Grandstand Package is offered at RM148.40 inclusive of GST. The K1 Grandstand Package is priced at RM106 inclusive of GST under the early bird promotions. 

Having opened at Phillip Island, Australia this season on 22 February, the eni FIM World Superbike Championship 2015 goes into its fifth round from 8 to 10 May at Imola, Italy. 

After four rounds, Jonathan Rea leads the World Superbike Championship with a total haul of 240 points - holding an 87-point lead over his compatriot Leon Haslam. The SupersportChampionship is currently topped by KenanSofuoflu of Turkey, who has 105 points and a 37-point advantage over Patrick Jacobsen of the USA.
