IPOH, May 26 (Bernama) -- Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) and The Haven Luxury Resort in Perak have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an effort to help promote the eco-tourism industry in Perak.
KTMB senior vice-president (technical service), Hilmi Mohamad said with the collaboration, KTMB would get to also promote its rail-tourism activities which encouraged tourists, especially from Singapore and Indonesia to use the train service to visit places of interests in peninsula Malaysia.
The Haven Luxury Resort, which is surrounded by the lush eco-system in Bukit Batu Kapur, Ipoh, is expected to attract more tourists to Perak, he told reporters after the MoU signing here today.
Hilmi signed the MoU on behalf of KTMB, while The Haven Luxury Resort was represented by its chief executive officer, Peter Chan. Present to witness the MoU signing were Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Mirza Mohamad Taiyab and Perak Tourism, Health and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi.
Hilmi said with the signing of the MoU, several packages would be offered to KTMB passengers travelling on the KTM Intercity and ETS between June 15 and Aug 15 this year. One of them is an offer of a two days and one night stay for 120 KTM passengers with tickets ending with the numbers '333' and '888', he added.
There will also be a special package for couples who want to celebrate their honeymoon or wedding anniversary on KTMB's exclusive coach. "The package comprises a trip on the special coach from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore to Ipoh and a stay at The Haven Luxury Resort," he added.
