KOTA BHARU, July 2 (Bernama) -- Some 130
passengers from Singapore flew into Kota Bharu today in an inaugural flight by
the republic’s low cost-carrier, Scoot.
The aircraft, Airbus A320, touched down at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport at 4.05 pm, with Kelantan Social Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Hassan Mohamood on hand to welcome the passengers.
Hassan said the inaugural flight by Scoot served as a benchmark towards Sultan Ismail Petra Airport becoming an international airport.
"We are also waiting for the arrival of direct flights between Kota Bharu and Vietnam and Kota Bharu and Bangkok, scheduled end of the year,” he told a media conference after welcoming the arrival of the Scoot flight.
The airline has three direct flights between Singapore and Kota Bharu a week.
