Attune (meaning “to make receptive or aware’) is a Kuala Lumpur-based busking group that donates 100% of all that it collects to charity. This August, Attune will play a mix of classical music and popular Irish folk tunes at George Town’s own Il Bacaro. A Bacaro is a cosy tavern that is usually found in Venice and typically serves homemade specialties and light bites. Following that tradition, Venetian light bites will be served after the session.
Formed in early 2015, Attune has raised some 19,000 ringgit, supporting causes from cancer, homelessness and children with special needs to the preservation of wildlife and animals. The core members are violinists Lee Hai Lin, Saw Sue-May and Saovanee Somchit as well as violist Andrew Filmer. All of them share Penang musical roots and with each session, they hope to highlight the value of music - a tune at a time.
