DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team rider Jakub Kornfeil will start the Spanish Grand Prix from row four after securing 10th place in today’s Moto3 qualifying.
Teammate Adam Norrodin faces a tough challenge ahead in tomorrow’s twenty three lap race, after a difficult session saw the rookie qualify in 28th place.

Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“We had a good qualifying today with Jakub being in the top ten most of the session and it looks like he can fight well in the race tomorrow. His pace is very good both on the medium and the soft tyres. We made some changes with the bike this morning and Jakub liked it a lot, which really showed in his performance. We made a good step today for him.
Adam also had a good FP3 and was feeling quite confident but unfortunately in qualifying he couldn’t get down to the times and struggled throughout the session. Towards the end he was on a fast lap but then got held up. This is something he must work on, to be faster straight away because it’s never easy to leave it to the last minute. For sure it will be tough for Adam starting from 28th on the grid tomorrow but we know he’s able to fight. I think he can have a good race and reach the targets we have set him.”

#84 Jakub Kornfeil
“I feel good about qualifying today. I wanted to break into the 1m46s lap times because I saw this morning that it was possible to do low 47s but unfortunately on my first flying lap with new tyres there was so much traffic and I couldn’t reach my target. Towards the end of the session I tried to do it again but I made some mistakes; still I was able to improve my time and I set my fastest lap. I am happy for tenth position; it’s a good place to start from. Our bike is working well so I’m feeling confident and I must say a big thanks to my team for this. We are well prepared, so we will see how it goes tomorrow. We just need to make a good warm up in the morning to build the confidence even more and then push hard in the race.”

#7 Adam Norrodin
“Qualifying today was really tough. This morning in FP3 my feeling was really good, we didn’t change anything on the bike and I finished in 15th place. We made a good job in this session, however going into qualifying I felt the pressure more and I think I let this affect me too much. I struggled from the start to find my rhythm but after a pit stop I was able to regain my focus. For the second half of the session I went out and tried to push hard but there was so much traffic and this ruined my fast lap. From then on I couldn’t get myself into a good position on track and was unable to improve much further. It’s disappointing to qualify in 28th but if we look at the times I am not losing so much. Everyone is really close here; from the top ten to my position there is less than one second separating us. Now I must concentrate for tomorrow, stay calm and focus on making a good race.”
