Melaka International Air Carnival Kicks Off On April 15

MELAKA, April 8 (Bernama) -- Over 50,000 visitors are expected to throng the Melaka International Air Carnival (MIAC) to be held at Melaka International Airport, Batu Berendam for three days starting April 15.

MIAC deputy chairman and 4B Flying Club deputy president Datuk Hasan Abdul Rahman said the carnival will be attended by 17 teams and 212 participants.

They include Royal Selangor Flying Club, Johor Flying Club, 4B Flying Club, Singapore Youth Club, Singapore Flying Club, Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysian Air Force, Royal Malaysia Police and the Fire Department.

Hasan said 36 aircraft will be on display including Cessna 172, C150, C152, Microlight, Robinson R44, Long Ez, Caravan 300 L, Agusta Helicopter, Socata TB-9, Piper PA28-101 and remote control aircraft.

"Visitors to the carnival can watch air shows, try simulators and witness the training of professional local and foreign pilots," he told reporters Friday.

The air carnival is one of the efforts undertaken to promote Melaka as a tourism state.

The MIAC is the second largest air show in the country after the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition.
