First Day of Sepang International Circuit’s Mega MotoGP Carnival draws large crowds

25 October 2014, SEPANG The popular Mega MotoGP Carnival, held here from 24 to 26 October 2014 in conjunction with this year’s Shell Advance Malaysian Grand Prix 2014, drew a large crowd of local and international motorsports fans and family members of all ages in its opening day yesterday.

“The Mega MotoGP Carnival has grown from strength to strength, from more than 60 booths in 2012 to more than 70 in 2013 and this year, the number of booths has further increased, registering more than 80. This year, this two-wheel auto fiesta is seeing 65 vendors from a variety of categories serving up real treats for motorcycling fans with great discounts and promotions up to 70%, some of which are offered exclusively at the Mega MotoGP Carnival,” said Dato’ RazlanRazali, Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit (SIC). 

With free entry, motorsports fans had the opportunity to experience everything related to two-wheel motorsports. Fans had the opportunity to meet up with popular MotoGP riders like NiklasAjo, KarelHanika, Danny Kent, HafiqAzmiand many more. Undoubtedly, one of the main attractionsthat drew most of the crowd’s attentionduring the carnival was the Public Pit Lane Walk where motorsports fans grabbed the chance of a lifetime to see their favouriteMotoGP riders.They braved the rain and heat just to catch a glimpse of their  heroes. 

Singaporean fan Kenneth Cheok who came with a group of 5, was a repeat visitor to the MotoGP, while some of his friends were experiencing the race for the first time. While queuing patiently for the pit walk, he said he is a follower of MotoGP, and is glad that Malaysia is hosting one of theraces as he has not yet been able to go to a race in any other part of the world due to the distance and cost.

Hairul Annuar from Johor managed to persuade his wife and daughter - both first timers, to attend the MotoGP Carnival, due to the many things that they couldexperience, such as the pit walk, face painting, shopping and more. On his part, this is Hairul's 4th visit to the Sepang Circuit to witness the race, and he has not failed to check out the carnival each year. 

Meanwhile, visitors did not forget to take advantage of the exciting promotions from vendors, some of which are only available during the Mega MotoGP Carnival. It was a fun day out for all ages, with activities including a live band, fun games and quizzes, face painting and photo booths.

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has also launched 2015tickets for its three international racing events - the Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix 2015 (27 to 29 March 2015), the eni FIM Superbike World Championship 2015 (31 July to 2 August 2015) and the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2015 (23 to 25 October 2015). They are offering Super Early Bird advance ticket sales for these three major races at discounts as high as 60%. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Super Early Bird prices during the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2014 weekend from 24 to 26 October 2014.  

Major brands and companies participating in the The Mega MotoGP Carnival 2014 include Shell, Dorna, Repsol, Petronas, Eneos, Motul, BenelliKeeway, Kawasaki Ducati, Naza, Boon Siew Honda, BMW Motorrad, KTM CBU, Chear Motor, Hong Leong Yamaha, Suzuki, Modenas, Red Bull and Tourism Malaysia.
