15,000-crowd gets Korean Grammys under way

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 15,000 screaming fans thronged Sepang International Circuit on the first day of the Samsung Galaxy The 27th Golden Disk Awards (GDA) also known as the Korean Grammy Award.

Held for the first time in Malaysia, the prestigious GDA 2013 is the largest gathering of K-pop stars with 25 of South Korea's hottest acts. There will also be 20 awards up for grabs.

Day One emcees CN Blue's Yong Hwa and Kara's Nicole wowed fans with Neyo's version of Because Of You.

Fans were entertained by boybands Super Junior, BTOB, SHINee, EXO, INFINITE, B1A4, BEAST, CN Blue, FT Island, and female acts JUNIEL and KARA.

The second part of the awards show will continue tonight with FT Island's Hong Ki and SISTAR's Dasom serving as the emcees.

Fans can expect 13 more K-pop acts to perform on Day Two including T-ARA, Miss A, Lee Ha Yi, Ai Lee, Secret, Heo Gak, f(x), Teen Top, Epik High, f(x), K.Will, SISTAR and G-Dragon.

The 2013 show is hosted by JTBC and Ilgan Sports, organised by Joongang Culture Media and Mediartncomm Co, Ltd, supported by the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) together with the Tourism Ministry and presented by Samsung Malaysia Elec-tronics as title sponsor.
