Labuan International Sea Challenge 2012

Labuan, 10 April 2012 : The Ministry of Tourism Labuan Office, in collaboration with related government agencies and associations will be organising the 2012 Malaysia Water Festival Labuan F.T.: Labuan International Sea Challenge from 27-29 April 2012 at the Labuan International Sea Sport Complex.

This hallmark event in the Malaysia water sports scene has successfully established itself as an internationally renowned water sports event. The Labuan International Sea Sport Complex has continuously been the venue of choice for major sea sport and tourism events on the island, and this year marks the 16th time that Labuan F.T. is organising the Malaysia Water Festival Labuan F.T.: Labuan International Sea Challenge.

Over the years the event has continuously outdone itself by organising highly acclaimed competitions, such as the ‘Round Island Kayak Race’ in the year 2007 which was listed in the Malaysian Book of Records for having the most participants in a Kayaking Event, and again in the year 2009, for the ‘Cross Channel Swimming Challenge’ for the ‘Largest Participation in Island to Island Swimming Challenge’.

The highlights of the 2012 event are as below:
1) Labuan International Fishing Tournament

Competition : Distance 5.4 km from Starting Point & Return
For Junior Boys/Girls – Distance 2.7km (One way-Papan Island
Starting Point)

3) Kayak Sprint Challenge
(Date : 27 – 28 April 2012)
(Venue : Labuan International Sea Sport Complex)
(Race Distance : Approx 700m)
