Ramadan Summer Festival To Attract Arab Tourists

KUALA LUMPUR: The first ever Malaysia Ramadan Summer Festival, featuring food, shopping and fun-filled activities till the early hours of the morning, will be held in i-City Shah Alam to attract Middle Eastern tourists during this Ramadan in August. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the i-City, which provides 24-hour tourism products and facilities, would be promoted to encourage Arab tourists to visit Malaysia.

She said that as Ramadan fell during the Arab summer holidays, the ministry would work with i-City to develop suitable tourism products for the fasting month. She said special strategies had been drawn up carefully to ensure tourist arrivals from Middle East could be maintained. “Ramadan will fall during the summer, not only this year, but all the way to 2015. “We have to strategise carefully and work hard. Otherwise tourist arrivals from the Middle East will definitely drop,” she told a press conference Wednesday.

  1. Hopefully I-City will be well prepared with the prayer rooms, middle east foods, signages and arab speaking volunteers. Schedule of activities must be prepared and promoted now.
