Early bird tickets for Rainforest music fest now on sale

 


KUCHING: Early bird tickets for this year's Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) have gone on sale online as of noon today.


The prices range from RM235 for the one-day pass - those seeking a single-day immersion into the festival – to RM635 for the three-day pass.


The prices exclude the ticketing fees. The one-day pass for children, aged between three and 12, is RM80.Th is special early bird prices ends on May 5.

Organisers Sarawak Tourism Board said the early bird tickets are discounted by up to 40 per cent.

At the end of the early bird sale period, the price for one-day pass would be RM283 during the so-called"pre-sale period" from May 6 to June 27,and would be RM333 at the door.

STB said the three-day pass, priced at RM635, offers value for money and not only guarantees an enriching experience but also offers festival goers a chance to win prizes worth over RM100,000.

This year's RWMF embraces the theme of Evolution with Kitaro, the Japanese recording artist, composer, record producer, and arranger famed for his electronic-instrumental music who is headlining the music festival from June 28 to 30 at the Sarawak Cultural Village at the foot of the fabled Mount Santubong.

Malaysia's Datuk Zainalabidin of the massive hit "Hijau" leads a strong supporting act. 'Hijau' has been evergreen for over three decades.

It was one of the first few songs in the country to be categorised under the genre of 'World Music' when the concept was still relatively new in Malaysia.

There will be 21 acts in total, bringing together 68 international musicians from 14 countries across six continents.

Taking to the stage too are 63 local talents, among them Sarawak's own Belle Sisoski.

The teen is making a name for herself by raising awareness about indigenous rights, environmental and musical conservation in Sarawak in her music.

STB said collectively, these acts "boast a massive global fanbase of 12 million, comprising followers from platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook."
