Sabah Tourism Board launches innovative Giphy campaign at Matta Fair

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) has introduced a dynamic digital arts initiative to boost its marketing strategies.


This initiative features a collection of engaging graphic interchange format (GIFs) on the popular creative platform Giphy, aimed at promoting Sabah's tourism products and attractions.


It was unveiled at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair in Kuala Lumpur yesterday by Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) secretary-general Datuk Roslan Abdul Rahman and Sabah Assistant Tourism, Arts and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.


The move is in line with STB's aim to resonate better with its audience.


"This trend adoption enables a stronger connection with STB followers," said Joniston who is also the chairman of STB.


"The Sabah Tourism Board is always seeking inventive and innovative ways to promote Sabah.


"For this campaign, we partnered with our creative local communities to give them the tools they need to spread the word about what a great place Sabah is," said Joniston.


STB's presence on Giphy is a pioneering move in Malaysia's tourism industry.


By collaborating with four talented Sabahan artists, namely, Iffah Hazirah, Adora Chloe, Rachel Rayner, and Nelson Lip, STB has brought to life 10 distinctive GIF designs, each representing different facets of Sabah, from adventure to islands, beaches, culture and nature.hat sets this campaign apart is its integration with popular social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Facebook.


This strategic alignment ensures that STB reaches its target audience effectively, facilitating a stronger connection with followers.


To access these GIFs and stickers, users can simply search for @sabahtourism or relevant keywords related to Sabah, Malaysia Borneo on their social media postings.


STB also organised an engaging online contest on social media, offering winners the chance to claim artisanal products from Sabah's local small businesses at the travel fair.


Matta Fair is held until tomorrow, with visitors also having a chance to win exciting prizes from STB by uploading photos at the Sabah Pavilion and using Sabah Tourism Giphy stickers.


Sabah Tourism encourages travellers to add a touch of fun to their travel stories with @sabahtourism stickers in their posts.
