Malaysia Aviation Group to Achieve 100 Per Cent Vaccination Rate for Malaysia-Based Employees by August 2021

 


KLIA, 6 July 2021: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) employees are expected to be fully vaccinated by mid-August 2021 following the Group’s participation in the Industry Vaccination Centre (PPVIN) Programme at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) beginning today. The programme is to facilitate and expedite vaccination for aviation personnel and other related industries.

 

A total of 5,150 vaccines are allocated for MAG’s Kuala Lumpur based employees including Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, Amal, MASkargo and AeroDarat. Employees comprising technical and cabin crew as well as customer-facing staff will be receiving their first dose of the SINOVAC COVID-19 vaccination between 6 to 23 July 2021 and second dose by mid-August 2021. A similar programme is being planned for its employees based at Penang International Airport.

 

Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, Captain Izham Ismail who visited the PPVIN in KLIA on Tuesday said,“As an organisation that puts its employees’ safety, health, and well being as priority, the Group is pleased to participate in the Industry Vaccination Centre (PPVIN) Programme at KLIA. MAG has introduced the enforcement of the MAG Vaccination Policy as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe environment at the workplace, and this includes making COVID-19 Vaccination compulsory for all MAG employees.

 

We are thankful to the Government for expediting the provision of vaccines for our employees including arranging a similar programme for our employees nationwide in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan in collaboration with the District PPV Programmes. We have now seen almost 90% of the 1,200 MAG employees in these States vaccinated. At the same time, another 1,200 of our colleagues in Peninsular Malaysia have also obtained their first dose through District PPVs.

 

Vaccination plays a vital role in the restart of domestic and international air travel and tourism. We remain steadfast in our commitment to adopting the highest safety and hygiene standards in air travel. We believe to operate a flight with a fully vaccinated crew is as important as we prepare to welcome our passengers to fly confidently with us.”

 

To further support the nation’s biggest COVID-19 immunisation drive, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) continues to mobilise its employees from across the Group to volunteer at several mega vaccination centres namely Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil and KL Convention Centre.
