Tourism Malaysia Bags The Brandlaureate Bestbrands Award

PUTRAJAYA, 7 May 2018 - Tourism Malaysia has acquired another feather in its cap with its recent coup of the BrandLaureate BestBrands Awards 2017-2018 in the Nation Branding category. Tourism Malaysia was selected based on a stringent process of evaluation which looked at its brand performance, integrated brand communications, brand culture and brand positioning.

The Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board or Tourism Malaysia is an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture. It is responsible for promoting Malaysia as a premier tourism destination worldwide. Since its establishment, Tourism Malaysia has achieved its objective and is now considered a model National Tourism Organisation in the region and in the world.

Held annually by The Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF), the awards ceremony aims to recognise brands in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific Region. It identifies and supports outstanding Malaysian brands to be global brands and celebrates deserving brands through this prestigious occasion.

The selection of winners was made by ABPF Patron, Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister, Tun Dato’ Sri Haji Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, together with a Board of Governors including industry stalwarts such as Tan Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Tan Sri Datuk Haji Mustapha Kamal.

With the theme “Institutionalise Your Brand to Internationalise the Brand”, this year's awards presentation was a gala event that was full of pomp and pageantry. Held in the grand Hotel Majestic Kuala Lumpur, the event was attended by various industry leaders from reputable companies with strong brand presence in the country, celebrities and members of the media.

Other previous credits garnered by Tourism Malaysia to date include the Tamil Nadu Tourism Award in Chennai, India, recently for the third consecutive year. The award was for the “Best Other Country Tourism Office” category in recognition of Tourism Malaysia’s easy access and range of tourism-related assistance to the public. Last year, Malaysia also bagged three Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards 2017 in the Marketing Media, Heritage and Culture, and Education and Training categories.
